Pest control for Warehouses
A warehouse holds large volumes of product on racks, pallets and stacks for weeks or months, and that very dwell time is what makes pest control critical. Here the risk is not just rodents: stored-product pests can develop inside the merchandise unnoticed until a customer or an auditor finds the damage. A good control program protects the inventory, the rotation and the relationship with whoever receives the product.
Most common pests in warehouses
A warehouse faces two fronts: pests that enter from outside and pests that travel inside the product itself.
- Rodents entering through docks, curtains and dock seals, seeking shelter within the stacked goods.
- Stored-product pests: weevils, flour and grain moths, and beetles that infest grains, flours, seeds and animal feed.
- Birds nesting on high structures, bays and roofs, contaminating product and aisles with droppings.
- Cockroaches in packing areas, internal offices and damp zones.
Risks to the operation
A warehouse infestation is usually discovered late and affects entire batches. The result can be merchandise rejected at the moment of delivery, shrinkage that is hard to quantify, and returns that damage the commercial relationship. Rodents gnaw packaging and wiring, with the resulting fire risk in a bay full of product. And an audit finding — internal or from the customer — can block the warehouse as a fulfillment point. Correct inventory rotation is, in itself, a control tool.
Standards and audits
We work in line with NOM-256-SSA1-2012 using products registered with COFEPRIS. For warehouses holding food, raw material or consumer goods we deliver a documented program with stored-product pest monitoring — pheromone traps for moths and beetles — trend records and traceability, aligned with HACCP- and BRCGS-type audits. We keep station maps and logs ready for any internal or customer inspection.
How we work
We apply Integrated Pest Management (IPM). We install numbered perimeter monitoring stations around the bay, place pheromone and light traps inside to catch stored-product pests early, reinforce exclusion at curtains, docks and vents, and apply bird control on high structures. We recommend good stacking and rotation practices so no product sits idle where an infestation could grow. Everything is documented per visit.
