The most common kitchen mix-up is cockroach droppings vs mouse pellets. Use these visual cues before choosing a treatment:

• Size: German ~0.5–1.5 mm (pepper/coffee grounds); American ~3–5 mm, cylindrical. Mouse pellets ~3–7 mm and often a bit larger.
• Shape: American cockroach pellets show ridges/faces (not a smooth cylinder); mouse pellets are longer with pointed ends.
• Texture and odor: fresh cockroach frass crushes easily and heavy infestations can smell musty; mouse droppings dry hard and barely smell.
• Where: cockroaches in cracks, fridge motors, drawers, and bathroom joints; mice also behind sofas/boxes, chasing crumbs and wires.
