Pest control for Workshops

A workshop — mechanical, automotive, manufacturing or maintenance — accumulates rarely visited corners: parts shelves, pits, tool rooms, rags and materials that offer perfect shelter for pests. Activity tends to concentrate in the work area, while stores and shelving sit still for weeks. In that quiet, rodents and spiders settle in. Pest control in a workshop protects above all equipment, electrical installations and the safety of the people who work there.

Most common pests in workshops

A workshop's profile is shaped by shelter and by the presence of wiring and materials:

  • Rodents that gnaw wiring, hoses and insulation on vehicles, machines and panels.
  • Spiders that web in corners, parts shelves and poorly lit areas.
  • Cockroaches associated with drains, oil pits, canteens and damp zones.
  • Scorpions in workshops located in warm regions, hiding among stored material and tools.

Risks to the operation

The most expensive damage in a workshop usually comes from rodents: they gnaw wiring and installations, causing electrical failures, damage to customers' vehicles or equipment, and a real risk of short circuit and fire among flammable materials such as oils and solvents. Spiders and scorpions are also a hazard for staff. On top of that, a poor image in front of customers who leave their vehicle or equipment hurts the workshop's trust and reputation.

Standards and safety

We work in line with NOM-256-SSA1-2012 and use products registered with COFEPRIS, applied by trained technicians with technical data sheets on hand. In a workshop we take special care to apply products away from ignition sources and flammable materials, and we deliver a per-visit report that serves as backup for health-and-safety audits or corporate customer requirements.

How we work

We apply Integrated Pest Management (IPM). We begin with an inspection of shelter points — shelves, pits, tool rooms — and reinforce exclusion to seal the access points where rodents enter. We install numbered perimeter monitoring stations, address spiders and scorpions in corners and stores, and follow up on a visit schedule. We recommend order and cleanliness in storage areas, because clutter is the main ally of pests in a workshop. Everything is documented.
